Curved Tempered Glass

Curved Tempered Glass is a type of safety glass that processes ordinary flat glass into curved shapes through physical tempering. The manufacturing process is as follows: First, the glass is cut into a preset shape, sent to a heating furnace to be heated to the softening point (approximately 600–650℃), bent into specific curved surfaces such as arcs, U-shapes, or S-shapes using molds, and then quenched by high-speed air cooling. This forms a uniform compressive stress layer on the glass surface (stress value ≥90MPa) and tensile stress inside, endowing it with high strength and impact resistance.

Introduction to Curved Tempered Glass

- Core Characteristics: The bending radius can be customized according to design requirements (minimum radius usually ≥1.5 times the glass thickness), light transmittance ≥91.5%, and it breaks into obtuse particles, complying with GB 15763.2 safety glass standards. It also has good thermal stability, withstanding temperature differences of over 200℃.

Applications of Curved Tempered Glass

Architectural and Decoration Fields

- Curtain Walls and Facades:

- Used for arc-shaped building curtain walls (e.g., stadiums, convention centers) to achieve a streamlined appearance. For example, the curved curtain walls of Beijing Daxing International Airport adopt large-sized curved tempered glass, balancing wind pressure resistance (withstanding category 12 typhoons) and aesthetic effects.

- Special-shaped roof lighting belts: Such as circular skylights and wavy lighting domes, introducing natural light in shopping malls and hotels while enhancing architectural layering through curved shapes.

- Indoor Decoration:

- Arc-shaped partitions and screens: Customized into semi-circular, elliptical, etc., used in hotel lobbies and villa stairwells to divide spaces and create a transparent feel, like the spiral glass partition in Shanghai W Hotel.

- Arc-shaped railings and handrails: Curved tempered glass is used for glass guardrails in high-speed rail stations and mall atriums, improving safety protection and optimizing spatial lines.

Transportation and Industrial Fields

- Automotive and Rail Transit:

- Automotive front windshields: Over 99% of vehicle models use curved tempered glass, which fits the body's streamline through its curvature, meeting impact resistance standards (withstanding a 1.5kg steel ball dropped from 1.2m height) and optical distortion ≤1.5%.

- Metro vehicle windows: Arc-shaped curved tempered glass adapts to the curved body of trains, with wind pressure resistance (±5kPa) and sound insulation (noise reduction ≥30dB).

- Marine and Aviation:

Home and Kitchen-Bath Scenarios

- Arc-shaped Shower Rooms: Customized into fan-shaped or L-shaped curved tempered glass based on bathroom corners, commonly seen in villa bathrooms. For example, a 1/4 arc shower room with an 800mm radius saves space and enhances design.

- Custom Furniture:

- Arc-shaped coffee tables and bar counters: Curved tempered glass tabletops are formed into elliptical or wavy shapes through heat bending, such as the "Loop" coffee table by Italian brand B&B Italia, creating artistic appeal with light transmittance and curved lines.

Art and Special Scenarios

- Glass Sculptures and Installations: Artists use the curved refraction of curved tempered glass to create light and shadow artworks, such as the Glass Cloud installation at the Denver Art Museum in the U.S., where hundreds of curved tempered glass pieces are spliced into a flowing cloud structure.

- Commercial Displays: Arc-shaped showcases and windows (e.g., circular display stands in luxury stores) highlight exhibits through the distortion-free light transmittance of curved tempered glass, while enhancing anti-theft performance (impact strength 5 times that of ordinary glass).

Is Curved Tempered Glass Good?

Is Curved Tempered Glass Good?

Curved tempered glass offers both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits for specialized applications. The tempering process after curving creates glass that maintains all the safety characteristics of flat tempered glass while accommodating unique architectural designs. This innovative solution is excellent for curved shower enclosures, display cases, and modern furniture pieces where conventional flat glass won't suffice. The curved tempered glass provides the same strength and breakage safety as standard tempered products, with the added advantage of flowing, organic forms. While requiring specialized manufacturing equipment and careful installation, curved tempered glass delivers stunning visual effects and can be customized in various radii to meet design specifications. Its durability makes it suitable for both interior and exterior applications where safety and curved profiles are required.
Curved Tempered Glass Without UV Glue

Curved Tempered Glass Without UV Glue

Curved Tempered Glass Without UV Glue

Curved tempered glass without UV glue is a high-performance solution for modern architectural and design needs. This type of glass is shaped and tempered using advanced techniques, eliminating the need for adhesive bonding while maintaining structural integrity. It offers the same safety benefits as flat tempered glass, breaking into small, safe pieces upon impact. Ideal for curved windows, display cases, and automotive applications, it combines elegance with functionality. The absence of UV glue ensures long-term clarity and resistance to yellowing or degradation. With customizable curvature and finishes, it provides a seamless, high-end look for innovative design projects.
